What is If This Then That (IFTTT)?
If This Then That" (IFTTT) is a web-based automation service that allows users to create simple conditional statements, known as applets. These applets define a trigger event ("if this") that leads to a specified action ("then that"). The idea is to connect different web services, apps, and devices to automate various tasks and create personalized workflows without the need for complex programming.
Here's a basic example: If you receive a new email (the trigger event or "if this"), then save the attachment to Google Drive (the action or "then that"). IFTTT supports a wide range of services, including social media platforms, smart home devices, productivity tools, and more.
Users can explore and use existing applets created by others, or they can design their own by choosing from a variety of available services and defining their trigger-action pairs. IFTTT is designed to simplify and streamline repetitive tasks, making it a popular tool for automating digital activities and integrating various online services.
In July 2013, IFTTT unveiled an application for the iPhone, subsequently introducing versions for iPad and iPod touch. The Android version was then introduced in July 2014.
